| OMG... I know My BAD!!! I know I said I wasn't going to get another girl after Vasquez passed and so many betta problems out there!!!And I didn't But I had to go to petsmart today for some new nets and syphons for preventive measures around here and guess what happened As I was walking by (not looking at the Betta's) out of the corner of my eye I saw HIM
Let me introduce Ash
He was so ill looking in his horrible little blue watered bowl Just laying there
I just couldn't leave him there...He's kinda like yellowish with some green on his tail He's a VT,Has a little fin rot I started treatment asap. And before anyone says anything...I just happen to have a 2.5 QT tank with his name on it ,This will be his home till my girlfriends brother comes to get the remaining guppies that are in the 5 ga then I will do a water check and change and upgrade Ash to his new 5 gallon home (all to his self)No more divided tanks for me from now on... I also have my eye's on those ultra cool 6.6 bookshelf tanks in the near future
Sorry for the long post |

| Aww, what a pretty betta baby, and so lucky too!!
Having a betta addiction isn't so bad. It could be worse and be an Oscar addiction! |

| Welcome, Ash. Now you be a good boy and do not cause your mommy to worry over you. We have had enough betta problems and disease to last a lifetime so you stay nice and healthy and grow up wonderful and beautiful like you have started to. Do you hear me?
Seriously, he is a great find and you are both very lucky to have found each other.
I would make the stay in the quarantine tank a minimum of 30 days for all new fish though. I would love it if everyone would just make that a rule from now on. This is becoming ever more important as these days go on even if they are going to be the only fish in the tank. It may keep you from having to completely tear down a permanent tank due to disease. That is what the quarantine tanks are for. If you find a problem this is where the medicating can take place and it is smaller and takes less medication to treat them.

I think I am sticking with my last 5 betta for awhile. They are so hard to keep. |

| Just breaks my heart to walk by the bettas at the store... I have a weakness, too.
You mentioned the 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium -- I use that for my betta, and I *love* it. Five star tank for bettas, because it's such a natural shape for their swimming (shallow but long). The filter is super quiet, too.
Congrats and good luck with Ash, he's really gorgeous! |

| Thanks everyone...He made it through the night,I think I will follow advise here and keep him in the 2.5 tank for a while and see how things go,He seems much happier now,I did have to remove the background on the tank he was spending way to much time flaring at his own reflection he seems better now |

| Awe, he's so CUTE!!!!
and a Lucky boy that you rescued him!!!
he looks like my LEMON at the store. Lemon's fins were curled up like that too. When i bought him, his was sitting in 1" of dirty water with no lid in a cup by the LFS front door, getting street dirt blown in him.
I love Ash's new condo, he looks happy! Congrats on your new baby!
we went to TWO LFS yesterday for supplies, and BOTH had betta's to die for.
luckily i'm feeling too overwhelmed, with what i've got already, to be tempted.
i had to run the other way
they had cute goldfish too, but my heart is still too broken over elvis to get one yet |
