Mustard Gas is technically yellow or gold fins on a darker colored body (usually steel blue but I have seen every color under the sun lately) and they are a class unto themselves. They are gorgeous when they reach their full coloration. Usually when you see a fish at the fish store with yellow or goldish colored fins in the cup and take it home before the coloration is set they will end up being a Mustard Gas and usually a stunner. It is rare for the fish to remain pale through the body unless it is very pale to start with. I think that Kate's Midas will eventually be a Copper bodied Mustard Gas and he will have some Black Lace tendencies that will make him exquisite. It is sad when the fish are overlooked in the stores because of their colors when it is obvious from what we see here they rarely resemble the same fish within a very short time. If the breeders could see what they culled out to be sent to the cheap stores maybe they would have valued them more but they are not willing to expend the time and energy on seeing what they could become, they think they are experts and many of them have lovely fish to sell but what they throw away are some gorgeous babies, thankfully for those who do shop in the
LFS.
