2.5 Gallon heater and filter question

I may be receiving/buying one fairly cheap, and was just wondering about the heaters and filters. I was thinking the Azoo Palm Filter (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...21&pcatid=9821). But the heater I'm more worried about. I'm probably going to order from Dr. Foster and Smith, because even with the shipping, it'll probably be cheaper. What are some recommended heaters for a tank this small? I know the Visi-Therm Stealth is the standard, but it looks like a 50 Watt it the smallest, and I'm worried that it may heat the water too much. Any suggestions? I'm going to be going with a female betta in this tank if I get it, just because I haven't had one yet Thanks for the help,

Cory

actually I found the stealth heaters at 25watts, I am going to get one for my 5g holding tank... I love the abilty to dial in the temp. I only have one stealth heater, I want to replace all my heaters w/ them..

The Stealth DOES come in a 25w, which wouldn't be too much for your 2.5 gallons. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...0&pcatid=12060

They're still on sale, too.

Oh well, turns out the poster on Kijiji made a mistake, she was getting rid of 2 .5 gallon tanks, not a 2.5 gallon one.

I HAVE used a 25 watt Visi-therm Stealth in a 2.5 gallon tank and it works fine but I found that I needed a thermometer as the heater could not be set at 80 to maintain 80 degrees. It tended to be a bit hotter than the thermostat said so you will need to watch the thermometer instead of the heater. BUT it does work. You will also have to lay it in the tank horizontally as it is a bit tall for the tank but it does well that way too. I put a small airwand under it and it spread the heat evenly throughout the tank and the betta loved it. I had a baby female in my tank at that point too and she was in heaven in that tank too. She was very small and a darling little thing. I think you will love having a tiny female. She will need baby food for a while though.

OH NO can't use it in a .5 gallon tank...shame on her for even having that size tank. she should use them for flower pots!

Not going to bother now, nothing can live happily in something that long.
