Of all the places that could possibly inspire MTS...

Wal-Mart. Mind you, I simply don't have the space, so my MTS is still dormant, but anyways...

Okay. Early last week, I think...sometime last week, mom and I were in Wal-Mart and I was looking at the pet supplies (what few things you can find there are at least priced reasonably...it's Wal-Mart!), and saw a bunch more bettas than they usually have...a bunch of TINY females, maybe an inch including their fins! They were all basically the same colors - mostly white with some little bits of purply colors mottled in, very pretty - and they were...crowntail I think it is...where the ribs in their fins poke out farther than the fins themselves? *checks picture-charts* Yeah, I was right! They were CT. Really cute little things, and a bunch of them...I'm guessing that they probably all came from the same breeder.

I SOOO wanted to take one home when I first saw them, but I don't know if Kappa would be the sorority tank type, and I wouldn't have any way to separate the little baby from her if she wasn't...which wouldn't be fair to either of them...

We went back to the same store during our weekly shopping trip, and I went back to look at the pet section...and most of their bettas had been sold, including all but 2 of the big batch of girls...and they had something in stock they haven't had before - 10g glass tanks and hoods. Not kits with weird filters and foods I wouldn't use, but just the tanks. If I had ANYwhere to put one...I'd probably have it set up and cycling right now...and have a couple of very pretty CT babies.

I hope they all went to people who take good care of them...and I wish that was the more likely scenario... *mopes*

Our Walmart had a bunch of female veil tail that were tiny too. Soo tempting but I tried the sorority thing with failure and one female standing at the end. I am not putting myself thru that again.
Most betta breeders that I've talking to keep all their females together is a large well planted sorority without much issues. I'm not sure how?

I'm guessing it works better for them because they've grown up with the other girls they're with, and are just used to them being there.

...and yeah, Dave, I know eventually I'll have more fishie girls, but I just don't have anywhere to put another tank right now. When I've got the space, I'll have more fish - and it'll likely be all girls. Most people seem to fuss over the boys, and they are cute, but I like the girls.

Angel is the reason for that. When we were starting out, the 'expert' at petco told us about putting female bettas together since they weren't aggressive.. after that disaster, I didn't want to ever get a female betta again. Then Angel picked me out and told me to take her home.
