So I went over the border to MN to pick up my mail, and took a detour to the fish store. I wanted something to put into my guppy fry grow out tank, since I sold all my fry.

They had a new shipment of bettas, and I found a little girl I was going to take, but then this little guy caught my eye - doing the betta dance full out, on the middle shelf, as if he was saying...."Please, me...I will mend your heart....take me"....well what could I do........Meet Pickles.

When my husband saw him, he gave me a high 5...go figure....he thinks he is beautiful. He is the deepest ruby red ever ( gets washed out by the flash if I use it); and has deep green Running down his rays!! He is amazing.

And I believe he is a lover, not a fighter, I couldn't make him flare but for one time with a mirror. He sees the camera and swims to a plant and drapes himself over. and looks back at me...so funny. I am thinking this guy has a lot of attitude.

I feel better than I have in weeks..............BETTAS ROCK!!!

Pics of Pickles were all taken today.. sorry for the blurries........the colours in his fins are washed out with the flash, they are very deep green and ruby red. Head on Pic also used flash, so washed out. But still a beauty in my mind.... oh ya, and his tail (only) has curls.........so adorable

Oh Val he is absolutely beautiful. I've been looking around to get another one too. I want to reset my 5 gallon up. I found a nice red one on aquabid that I really want to get. Heres a pic of it. He's had it up twice and nobody has put a bid on it yet. I really want to get him.

Pickles is gorgeous, i know he's a boy but handsome just doesn't cover it! He sounds like he won't give you the chance to feel bad. I LOVE the full out betta dance, it's completely irresistible and you have to give them all your attention right now for as long as they want it!

congratulations on your new Betta boy! WOW he is gorgeous...
I agree, he looks like a vail tail, his fins are so full. The ruffle on the edge has another name too, but at the moment I dont remember what it is.

He's a sweet guy, like out Teddy Bear.. he's going to just eat up your attention more than most Bettas.. He's a handsome boy and SO happy to be in a loving home. He's going to be spoiled silly.

Oh I am so happy for you! You know that bettas can heal hearts and mend broken feelings better than anything. I know I am in the process of waiting for another one right now and I can hardly wait for the first naughty little wiggle. I am praying for it in fact...

I am so happy you got a spirited little guy who is not afraid to let his "wiggle" side out for a good play. Take care, my friend and keep us informed of the antics.

Quite coincidentally I think, this is the seller from whom I bought my new little girlie. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I see the auction has once again closed without a bid. The seller, Zeph, will work with you, I'm sure, if he still has the beautiful red guy. Zeph seems to care more about the health and safety of his fish than making a quick buck. In fact, I'm *sure* his extra keeping of my girlie cost him more than he made on the sale. He shipped my fishie in wonderful condition. He kept her for three extra weeks because of a series of mishaps that were not my fault nor his -- bad weather in NYC and my concern about my bettas' tankmates' health. Zeph is the actual breeder, not a re-seller. He'll tell you about the guy's parentage, age and background if you ask.

I would never order a fish from Thailand on Aquabid through a transhipper, but I would definitely not discount Aquabid from a U.S. to U.S. address. She was shipped overnight by USPS and arrived by noon next day, securely and temp-stable packaged.
