Just for a good overall book I like this one. There is a larger more comprehensive book that is very similar and really tells more but it costs $65.00 or so most places. The difference is small and once you learn the shorthand in the symbols for temperature, lighting, fish type and so forth in this one they actually have more types of fish listed in this one I believe. I have them both and use them both but this one is quicker now that I have learned the symbols.

The Barron's Books are always good too but since they were published several years ago and this one is in 2006 I chose it to put on the list. I personally own the Barron's books by Robert J. Goldstein. (both of them but they say the same thing so it is not necessary)

This one was my first Fish disease book and has a lot of pictures and gives some medication information. It is easy to understand and simple to use but does not cover everything.

Amazon.com is where I purchase most of my books as they will sell you used books for some of these and always check to see if they have used ones if you do not mind the used ones. After all, if you went to the library they are all used books right? Sometimes you get lucky and someone wants to get rid of a really nice book for a $0.01 and then it is basically just the postage. They also have a lot of books on TROPICAL FISH. Just go to their Books section and search out Tropical Fish or the kind of fish you are looking for or Tropical Fish Disease or Tropical Fish Aquariums or anything like that and you can spend the whole day looking at books.
If you find one that you are not sure about and want an opinion on before you buy, just put it on the forum and someone surely has a copy and can tell you if it is a good one or not.
Books are kind of expensive and remember it took a lot of years for some of us to get our libraries up to where they are now so for heavens sake do not think you need to rush out and get yourself a whole library right away. Just one book or two will get you started and then get a list going and they make good hints for people to give you for your birthday and other occasions. That way you can save your money for the important things like more fishies...hehehehehe.
