UPDATE! Ladies & Gentelmen - Introducing "POPPET" !!

I am very pleased to introduce " Poppett", who is much happier and healthier than when you saw him last.

He made the big move to his 10g only yesterday, and is still getting used to all the amenities: Lights, running water; plants; caves....and enough room to exercise a boys fins for a very long time.

Poppet ( meaning "darling", or a term of endearment) is either a fierce warrior or a real scaredy cat. He was flaring at himself so had to have some lighter paper placed over the tank background. I only give him lights for a few minutes at time; and have a small lamp next to his tank which he seems to like. He will swim all over the tank when this light is on. With the tank lights on he won't come to the front of the tank cuz he has to defend his territory from that bad boy he sees.

He seems to enjoy the flow from the HOB filter, and I saw his tail plastered up against the filter intake once. When I talked to him, he wiggled off and came over to see me. He is eating well - I always handfeed - so he is catching on that if he hangs out, there will be another pellet.

His fins, look pretty darn good to me, I think the curls are endearing, and when he flares and displays, he is quite a little beauty.

I really got it right rescuing this guy - I hope he continues to grow even healthier and at home in his new tank. His colour is improving every day.

So again, thanks to all of you who wished him well - good karma was definetly in the air!!

Sorry about the picture quality, had to resize, had to take with lights out, and he just is a little camera shy still.

Val

What an amazing rescue and recovery!

He looks absolutely splendid, Val! I love his face, his color, his long fins and tail, his name and his 'tude! You have been blessed and richly rewarded by your good deed.

For folks just tuning in to this saga, check out this thread. You're going to be amazed when you see what Poppet looked like just 11 days ago, and it's a heartwarming read.

Congrats to you, your husband and Poppet, Val!!!!

How is he doing now, Val? Does he seem to be settling in and not so uncomfortable with the "other fishy" anymore? He is just so stunning that it is hard to believe he is the same little MOPPET you brought home now he is a POPPET!!

LOL, Rose... thanks for asking, Poppet is doing great, but he is still determined to get that other "fishy". I turn his light on when I feed him, and leave it for several minutes; or a couple of times during the day when I can distract him. He always goes back to that awful fish he sees.

To be honest, I haven't placed the "divider plant" on the back wall...so I must get that done. His tank is nicely cycled now, and due for a water change on Tuesday, so will get it on then if not before.

I am thinking he was suffering low self esteem ( was probably culled due to his curls - lol) and just doesn't recognize the beauty boy that he really is !!

Meantime, I keep his little lamp on all day, and he is seemingly very happy, and (he surprised me,) also very social..... no resemblance at all to the little one who sat on the suction cup with his head out of the water!! I haven't seen him go near any of the suction cups. since moving to the 10g....silly mite!!

I will try for more pics soon. I feel so blessed to have found him......we have helped each other a lot over the past couple weeks!
