Huge bubble nest - blocking water flow?

My betta has made a bubble nest that fills up half the top of the tank. It is a tall tank and is in the shape of a hexagon. It is 5 gal.

But the main concern is the water on the top isn't really moving that well. I'm worried that it'll start getting nasty film on the top. Should I take some of it out? Take all of it out? Or just leave it?

Do you have a filer? or bubble wand in the tank? is fo your fine as when the water moves it should pop the bubbles.

I have a filter, not sure what a bubble wand is but the bubbles are right behind where the water flows out so only half of the surface area water is moving.

The film can be taken care of with an air pump and a small air stone in the back of the tank. Use a gang valve to control the air so that it's enough to keep the surface clear but not too much for the Betta to get the food when you feed him.

From what I know the film isn't harmful. It's a build up of organic matter that otherwise gets mixed in with the water if there is more surface movement. It doesn't interfere with a betta's breathing or anything. But if you don't like how it looks a small air stone will get rid of it.
