Betta behaviour toward frogs

I told you before but now I know for sure.
Cleo - the betta male has in his 10 g tank both frogs now. With either of them he is doing that: he waits until they are in a corner or tight place and sits on them. The frog stops moving because of the fish on top of her. Then the betta pushes with nose the frog (not bitting) then the frog moves a little. Then the betta pushes his body against frog body again like sitting on her. It doesn't look like agression and the frogs don't mind that too much but .... should I worry for the frogs ?!
Thank you
L
PS: I'll try get pics on that but it takes a while ...

That sounds so odd. I can't wait to see the pictures. I hope there's nothing to worry about with the frogs.

For me as a beginner in fishes it's still amazing to study their world, social behaviours, territorial tendecies, agressivity. I thought it would be easier to deal with fishes. It's not. Every little individual it's something and a fish tank it's a little world with it's own problems.
The more I study them the more impressed I am ..... a fish it's not just ... a fish. And they don't always act like the definition of a species says, they act like individuals. Ha ?!

That sounds like a good fish keeping attitude, experience or no experience. They're fascinating creatures.

They are quite obscure little things arent they, i guess everyone has their own story like my 2 female gourami attack my male. if you manage to snap a good foto it could be interesting for the comment competition.

If there will be a competition about weird things that fishes do .... I am in.
Right now my 2 GBR female were doing a kissing thing .... Actually my gourami girls (dwarf) did that too. I might look like an idiot posting questions about fish behaviour but sometimes I'm really puzzled. I asked about my gourami spiting water at the surface .... already. Only one guy at the store knew about it and he said it's agressive feeding .... whatever that is.
Well, as long as they are healthy .... hope so ...

Ok,. I saw one of my dwarf blues do this last night...it happened so fast, I was up on this little step stool ( there is a canopy) and had the top open, and was dropping in flakes.

LOL.. Can't wait to see the pics of your frog-riding Betta! It is VERY fascinating watching the fish and how they behave and respond to their world. Each Betta is totally unique and even our other fish show a degree of individual character that makes them much more entertaining that the TV.

My betta also seems to sleep on top of the frog in his tank. It is very strange to see and like you i never took it mean he was being aggressive. Though i had 2 frogs but can only see one lately.

Bettas have a reputation as being so aggressive, yet things like this show that they're just territorial and many of them are fairly mellow and will get to be buddies with adfs, cories or otos.

Or neons, sometimes.
My betta girl Gipsy, the most agressive one is in a 10 g. I put 8 green baby neons with her. She chased them for 5 minutes, now she is totally ignoring them. We'll see. It's amazing how they divided the tank: like it is cut in half with an invisible divider.

My experience is slightly different with the frogs.

My poor crowntail is sometimes mistaken for the frogs food. I feed them black worms and once in a while the frogs mistake his tail for the worms.

It's very rare but they sometimes catch him, and boy does he get unhappy. Can't say I blame him.

Seems the rest of the time they all get along nicely.
