Opinion on new tanks for our bettas pls

I'm looking for decent tanks for them to upgrade. As the boys stay near to the top i wondered if you'd say this one in the link is too tall. I remember a post from way back over the depth of the tanks so i thought i'd check. Honey swims all over hers so i think she'd like it!

What do you think?

I think it's too tall as well. I would go for more horizontal space. From the link you gave, I would take this one:

That should do just fine.

As long as the betta can rest near the top when it chooses to the tank should do fine. We have a betta in a community 55g tank and it does just fine, stays near the top quite frequently, but that is because they get more oxygen that way and are most comfortable in that situation.

Good luck.

i think a betta could be alright in that tank, but would be happier in a tank that is more long than tall. ours seem to enjoy having the long 'run'. to do laps along the length of the tank.

That was a good tank Barb, have to admit i hadn't really looked in the coldwater section.

Thanks for your input guys, it's not often that i get s plash of spare cash to spend and having decided to re-house the betta brats i need to get it right!! I will keep searching and if ok with you i'll ask fellow betta mums and dad what you think.

Chief W can you tell me more about your community tank? I ask as i have a 3ft tank waiting to be set up ( need to decorate room first) and not sure where to go with it! So anyideas would be great, especially with another Betta in it!

I have to say that tank is about the size that my guys in the 25 gallon tank have to play in and they are both happy as little clams in there. It is tall and not long and they do a lot of up and down swimming and as long as they have a plant that almost reaches the surface, they are fine. In fact the last few weeks they have even been seen sleeping on the bottom in the caves that the other fish are supposed to have to sleep in. I think they just want to show that the WHOLE tank is theirs. The 9 gallon tank is much more acceptable. I would not have the other one as it has a mirrored back and the constant mirroring of the betta is a dangerous thing to have. It puts a lot of stress on his heart.

ty for opinions on tanks, here is his new one!!! Pics

I thought that too Rose, about the mirrored back. One foodstore is getting tanks in on the 11th, i will post the link but if they are as good as they look i'm going to get one for Flame! I can't wait. I may even buy one for Spot if funds allow but for where he likes to be in the kitchen it may be too long. He'll get a new one anyway.

They all have real plants that reach the top of the water at the moment, i am pleased with them as they have grown well for them.

Once Flame has his new tank i can buy another girl!! Honey has the same tank as Flambo and she has alot more space with her being smaller so i'll find a girly to look after. Oh i'm like a kid at Christmas over this!!
