I can see white around m betta's eyes that I can't normally see. Do that mean he has popeye?

I'm sorry, my betta is very camera shy and I can't get a close up pic of his eyes. They do seem a little bigger than normal. I've been treating him with Maracyn.

So far I've seen a little improvement and we are on the seconed round of meds. The Ph is at 7.6, which concerns me. What can I do to lower it? I don't have the filter in because of the meds and I don't know how else to fix it. Ammonia, nitires and nitrates are good though.

Oh, and are there any antibiotics I can give him tha don't come in a hard pellet form? I can't get him to eat medicated food because he doesn't like pellets.

I wouldn't worry about the pH, as long as it's stable. Our bettas have always had pH of 7.6-7.8.

Can you find this product:

I believe that treating with Maracyn-2 would be more effective and this is a powder that you add to the tank water.

If you do an order with DFS, pick up one of the Azoo Palm Filters, they're great little filters and no carbon.. or you can pick up some filter floss and replace the filter cartridge that you have that has carbon in it.

My Bettas are doing great in a pH around 8. Trying to change the pH causes it to fluctuate which is extremely stressful.
There are a lot of antibiotics you can get that are put into the water. Maracyn 2 should be easy to find at any local pet or fish store, you don't have to order it online since you need it right away.
Let us know how he's doing.

The Azoo Palm filters do not have granulated carbon but the black pads that come with it do contain carbon and should be removed if you are medicating. I found this out with my first little girl tank as it was 2.5 gallons and only had the Palm filter on it. It is an excellent little filter but you have to make sure not to change all the filter media at one time or you lose your cycle. Just change half of it at a time or rinse and reuse the pad until it is ready to fall apart for money savings.

Thanks all! My little guy is still pretty sick, but hopefully the new meds will do the trick. He's got a patch of white fungus growing on his back now as well. I had him totally healthy for about two months, so I hope this passes quickly.
it's been a struggle since I brought him home from the pet store, but I think it's worth it.

I've had Beethoven on Maracyn 2 for three weeks. He has improved to a point but doesn't seem to be getting any better. His eyes are still buldging a bit and he has some white fungus growing by one of his gills. Should I keep him on this med or is there something I could switch him to? Dose anyone think he could have tuberculosis?

I've had fish with tb and I highly doubt that's what he has. Has he been losing weight? Is he still eating?

To help relieve the bulging eyes you could try an epsom bath. Fill a small bucket with 1 or 2 gallons of water, the same temp as the tank water (and don't forget the dechlor), and put around 1 Tbsp of epsom salt (not regular aquarium salt, has to be magnesium sulfate) per gal. Put him in for no longer than 30 min, but watch him closely for any signs of distress...if he starts going belly up remove him immediately. The epsom helps draw out fluid to reduce swelling.

If he's not improving then it's probably time to switch to another med. I believe Maracyn Plus is stronger and supposed to be good for popeye, but wait till someone else chimes in since I'm not that familiar with the Maracyns....

He doesn't sound like he's got fish TB, but he is dealing with fungus and I'm not sure how much the Maracyn Plus will do there. I would get a bottle of Rid-Fungus and start treating him with that to clear out that lingering fungal problem.
