Complaining on humanitarian reasons will get you nowhere.
They care only for money, so you can inform them (either the manager of this store, or a head office) that neither you, your family nor anyone you know will spend a dime there until the animal abuse stops.

Right. Do up a thoughtful and civil letter outlining your complaints. I know it's tough to be civil in these circumstances, but anything that is angry or abusive will be ignored.
