Crown tail bettas have "spiky" tails:

Veil tails are smooth and rounded:

Can't answer the rest of your questions, but looking froward to seeing them get answered

"dragon" & "dalmation" are just referring to the pattern of color in a betta.

CT=spiky extra extensions of the rays
Combtail=CT+VT/HM, slightly spiky rays
Dragon=color variety of any
Dalmation=a color varietion that usually means spots on the fins
Marble=a mix of colors, usually only two
HM= a rounded tail
VT=slightly tapered end to the tail
PK=shorter fins
HS=A CT/HM mix, has the look of the suns rays
DT= Double Tail, a split tailfin to the base
Though there are always others, kinda like designer dogs

One of our Bettas, Teddy Bear, is a feathered betta. his fins are like a veil tails, but as the name implies, it's sort of feathery, almost as if it's a type of fin rot.
