It's a sweet name though, and he deserves it, so I'm not bitter. Much. |

| Re: my new crowntail That's really great, Wolfgang. Mine's really a shadow of himself. He's never been finrot-free. I am really happy that you're not having these problems yourself.
May I ask you what conditions he's in, so I can perhaps use some of your ideas?
Some questions: - Is he in a bowl or hex or rectangle?
- how deep (roughly) is the water?
- what's the temperature
- what's the substrate
- what do you feed him
- is he in a busy area , or a quiet spot
- is he in a darkish area, or a brighter spot
- how do you filter? internal/external? strong/weak?
- how do you aearate? at all/strong/weak/multiple stones?
- what's your pH
- did you get him from a shop or on-line or from a breeder?
- do you do anything else like vitamine, etc.
's about it. Sorry for all the questions. |

| Re: my new crowntail he is in a 2.5 gallon rectangle tank
about 8 inches of water maybe more
it is roughly78 degrese
standard rocks neutral colors
he gets bloodworms and flakes alternating and one day of fasting
hes on my computer desk but its pretty laidback
since there wasnt a hood light i have a 15 0r 20 watt desk lamp over it
i use the wisper 3 gallon filter i keep it filled enough so there isnt any real current
the filter uses an airpump to bring water through the bio sponge
ph is 7.0
i got him from petco. the on near me is really good with the fish also i got him the day they were shipped in.
nope no vitamins i did try to feed him garlic and he seemed to like it
not a problem questions are fun. also i ah ve a panda cory in with him. |

| Re: my new crowntail I'd get him some vita-chem from the DFS website when you can and maybe once a week feed him a few pellet-sized pieces of peeled, thawed (microwave 50sec), frozen pea. |

| Re: my new crowntail the skin usually comes off pretty easily. we just tear it off then tear off little 'pellets' of pea for the bettas. |

| Re: my new crowntail Thanks, Wolfgang!
Yeah, the pea skin coming off is really easy. You just press for half a second and it's out. Nice and neat. Buuuut the tricky bit is to chop it in small enough pieces (they only need about 1/8th of a pea per serving, LOL).
I wonder if perhaps he could share with my panda cory? I'd be too nervous that he attacks the cory , though. It's not a big tank (5G). Mind yours is even smaller and you're not having trouble. Does he bother with him at all, or does he pretty much ignore the cory?
Another thing you have and I don't is soft light. I have this really bright tank light. It makes him flare at his reflection all day long. I wonder if that's related too. Does yours flare at himself frequently?
The worms you feed him, are they live, frozen or freeze-dried? |

| Re: my new crowntail Oh you're kidding. Mine is, well, Flareville if you will, LOL! I actually was toying with the idea of giving him a cory companion, but I saw his reaction when I was just floating the poor cory's bag in the betta's tank to start acclimating him.
Didn't think it was such a great idea after that! |

| Re: my new crowntail plash is still young he was one of the smallest bettas there is, i figure he has some growing to do. but if you do plan on putting a cory in there do it at night that way the cory will have time to get to know the tank since there nocturnal anyways and the betta will be sleeping. but it really helps with the leftover food |
