Dorado has been getting steadily worse the past week or so. He's losing weight and the ulcer is not improving. I think he has given up...all he does now is lay inside his flower pot. He doesn't even come out sometimes when I call him. It makes me so sad to see him in such a state. I wish there was something more I could do for him, but I've tried everything. The kanamycin just didn't have any effect on the disease. I hate that of all fish, Dorado is the one who got stuck with furunculosis. I don't know how I will be able to cope with losing him.

I'm so sorry! I know how you feel. Watching Lava slowly deteriorate was agonizing. He was my mommy's boy.
There are some things that sadly just cannot be cured. Sometimes meds just prolong their lives a few weeks.
We've all lost fish we loved here and we are all here to support you when you need us.

I am sorry to hear that. I really hope that it is not hte case and he is actually going to perk up. I hate to loose a fish, especially if it's your favorite one. You must feel awful. We're all thinking of you.

I am so sorry to hear that things aren't getting better. I lost Storm recently and it broke my heart, so believe Phlox when she says, we are here for you hoping things improve, and to support you when you need it. He knows you are doing all you can.

Thanks to everyone who replied. He's going downhill really fast now. I haven't been able to get him to come up and eat the past few days. Poor guy.

I am so sorry about Dorado's illness. It really hurts to lose our little buddies. Sometimes there isn't anything we can do about it though, and I know you've done all anyone could do. We wish the best of health for you and your little ones.

we're really sorry & know how you feel.. maybe it's time to float him in a cup so he has less distance to go for air.. he won't even eat daphnia or garlic-soaked worms/pellets or bits of pea?

Dorado won't come up to eat at all. For the past day or two he has been just lying on his side on the bottom, only moving to come up for air. He doesn't even respond to me any more. It's so sad. I really should euthanize him, but I don't have anything to do it with. As much as I don't want him to go, I will be glad when he is out of his suffering.

I'm so sorry! I know how hard it is. I watched 4 of my fish go through this and so wishing I could help end their suffering. I will pray for him to be out of pain and in betta heaven soon.

I am so sorry about Dorado. I know how you suffer when you lose fish and it makes me so upset that you are going through this. I will know for sure what you are going through as I too have lost bettas and felt their loss deeply.

Take care and try not to stress too much. I am sure that you have done all you could to help him and you have given him a wonderful home and the best of care, I know that and you should too. When you think of what his life could have been like, please give yourself credit for giving him love and a better life by far.

we just lost Sora not long ago and now are trying to help Aslan overcome his latest problem and know how you feel. You've given him the best life and he really has been a happy pet and that's all a Betta could ask for.
