Since most fish I ship arrive within 24 hours, they spend less time traveling from me to the purchaser than do the fish that go from Florida ( for those here in the states) to your local fish store.
I cannot imagine the flights are any worse from a Florida fish farm to lfs, than they are from breeder to individual purchaser. |
That makes a lot of sense. The shipping method is the same as the larger "Deathcos" and such. If all fish retailers were more like you, I don't think I would even have needed to ask the question. I guess research really is the answer. Buying form a reputable source is the way to go when you want a really exotic Betta. Even in So Cal, they are hard to come by. Thanks again!

The kid could survive, but no one would think it was humane.
Ideally I would prefer to have a local breeder that I could go to and pick out my fish and take it home with as little trauma as possible.
Too bad breeder can't just "open up shop" even a couple times a week and let people come and buy fish directly. People will drive hundreds of miles to pick up a purebred puppy from a breeding kennel. |
I don't know... I wonder if the dark would even bother them. It is such a short time, if you purchase from responsible individuals who care for and over prepare for the trip. For someone, who really cares about fish, to sell them over and over knowing they're dying doesn't sound right to me. There must be a magick to it and I'm betting these people have found it.
I can see your logic with a child, as children understand and process things differently. The experience could be scarring. I have yet to see this result in the fish but hey, you never know! We do not need a world of over-xanazed fish!
Thank you both. Got what I was looking for!
