OH dear! Went to an aquatic store new to us, a fair drive away. I MUST point out right now that it was HER idea!!!!!!!!!!! JAQUITAZ'S IDEA!!!!!

It is in a large garden centre so we looked at stock and thought 'oh nice oto's and cory's' we will look around, have a coffee and go back for some. We had seen 4 healthy, happy male Bettas and i was happy to leave them ( as i have said they are not in cups where i live, they are kept in community tanks)

ANYWAY!!!!! MUM went to look at plants with my 'i'm bored' Dad and i went back to pay for stuff i had put aside. ANYWAYS!!!!!!! You all know that 'one last peek!' we have to have and there i spotted a little red nose and a blue eye from behind a heater!

I stood and watched and saw how ( although the others were in with 'ok' fish ) this little guy was hiding, being nipped by some type of tetra (sh**s) and some type of baby cory. He'd swim out to try and chase them and they would just come at him from all angles. My Dad saw it too and didn't like it ( he is animal mad btw, he just pretends that Mum and i are nuts over fish to try and look cool!!!)

So said Sorry to old folk BUT I CAN'T LEAVE HIM, bought him, dashed off to a different store ( where Honey came from) for a 5 gallon that i could afford, popped a heater (honey's theometre) in and he is next to Honey on my side board. I will have to sort a filter asap but at least he is warm and safer. He has been fin nipped but hopefully i have caught it in time.

I have called him 'Spot' ( or Spotty Botty ) as i just spotted him peeking....again fate and also he has green/blue spotty stripes from nose to tail.

I think he was hungry too, had 3 pellets at intervals whilst hanging in bag and 2 since.

As we left store mum said this is getting out of hand, we do have a big house for just 3 of us ( oh and the beasts) but half way home she said' where can i put my next little girl!!!' YEEEEAAAHHHHH


But guys PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE stop me buying more for a while!!!! PPPLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE I am not rich and need to look after these guys....and the other beasts...
Next one a little girl for Mum at Xmas...Then we start on Dad at Easter!!!! MMMWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

....seriously, think, you are giving it a healthly happy home as opposed to some tiny bowl where no one cares and it dies in a few weeks

i couldn't have left him,,,,, i have to say that for once the others, 4 i think,in the store looked fab so despite having bought him i didn't come away with 'that guilt!!' They are like an after thought in the store in my area and don't seem to be that available online in the UK but i did chat to Rose a while back and from memory they are hard to keep in uk.

yea, i understand.. i felt like that when i saw Sweetie sitting in her cup waiting to die. Just couldn't leave her there.. and fortunately she turned out better than a previous rescue that the betta was just too far gone and only lived a couple of hours after we got him home.

i can't stop you Michelle.. I can't stop myself.. there is no resisting it.. you just have to start getting rid of unnecessary things like anything on top of any piece of furniture in the house where a tank could go.

Oh and Mum bought him a filter today too. These are the best pics of him at the moment, when my laptop is alive again i will use the webcam for better ones but you can sort of see his lines of spots in first pic. They start at his nose right to his tail.

I hadn't seen the poll, it's fab!! Mum said she saw the Blue one again yesterday for the 2nd and made it home alone!!! I think i'll get to know my new boy 'for now!!!'
