alright, i rescued a betta from petsmart today...now how do i acclimate it, just put it in, or put it and its water in a plastic bag and float it in the tank...slowly adding tank water

PLEASE ANSWER ASAP! i do't want it in that cup any longer

we take some of the water in the cup out and then add a little tank water every 10 min. or so until the cup is full.. usually we use a turkey baster to add the water.. by the time the cup is full, the temps should be equal. use a probe thermometer if you have one.

ok thanks...i just added some tank water...i'm acclimating him like i did my other fish

i will post a pic tommorrow after he is over the initial shock

...any special tips you can give me?

just that he might refuse food at first and explore a lot, but even talking to him some during this stage helps teach him who you are and encourages more interaction down the road.. that and keep the tank water clean and warm.. and wear clean underwear.. and don't eat yellow snow..

he doesn't know what to do with all the water and places to hide and play...he loves the ship...it has 4 holes...he'll swim out one and go right back in through another

no name yet...you ar ewelcome to suggest anything...i was waiting to see if he did something special...and name him after that

i gave him a betta flake (made by omega one) he tried it but spit it back out...so i'll give it a couple more trys...if he doesn't take, i'll try the pellets

he's a great looking betta and they can be pretty finicky at times, especially with flakes.

Mine seems to like Hikari mini-wafers. He also likes peas and am trying to give me a 100th of an algae wafer.

i tried a pea last night...he took it ...but wouldn't eat any more after that

yea, just a few little pieces of pea can fill their belly so full it'll look green on the light ones.
