Help give Red an identity

G'day fellow betta lovers!

I've read about 'veil tails' and various other descriptives and have searched the internet thoroughly, but I cannot find an appropriate category for poor little Red, I know he's a 'steel blue' but I'm not sure if any other physical description applies.

Can anyone help give poor Red an identity?

i'd just call him a blue veiltail. how many degrees would you say his tail is when it's spread?

Re: Help give Red an identity

Yea, he's a veiltail and he seems to have a few rays on his anal fin so he probably has a little bit of crowntail in him. A lot of the Bettas you find in petstores are veiltail/crowntail hybrids. His color is simply steel blue. He is a handsome and healthy-looking boy!

Re: Help give Red an identity

That's kind of about it when it comes to tail spread - he's a streamlined character with beautifully frayed fins (especially the anal fin!) I don't believe they're a result of damage, I just think he's got 'feathering'... here's another pic:

yea, there are feathered bettas.. our betta Teddy Bear has that type of finnage.. it's hard to not worry about finrot with him, but they really are beautiful.. such a shame he has the swim bladder disorder - poor big guy.
