I have 2 cherry barbs (getting 4 more), and i would like to get 6 tiger barbs, and maybe 6 rosy barbs, what kind of foods, other than flakes, will they eat? I especially would like to know what live foods they will eat.

My rosy barbs LOVE the algae wafers I got for my pleco. If he decides to ignore the wafer, they move in! They also go crazy for peas, it's insanity. I think they just love to eat.

Just about any live/frozen food that is the right size will do fine.

Blood worms, mosquito lareve, adult brine shrimp are all good choices.

my barbs love krill but only if its cut up or it will not fit in there mouth (picky fish!)

I feed mine this frozen stuff called emerald entree that you can buy at a lot of LFS and frozen blood worms along with tetra flakes.

mine love blood worms. I feed them flakes (switching back to crisps though), tubliflex worms, mini-krill, baby shrimp. Might look into live Brine Shrimp in the near future and see how that goes.

I have been using this food called... New Life Spectrum... its small sinking pellets and ALL my fish go crazy for this stuff... I happened by it, by chance. Its kinda expensive, but I think its worth it, especially if you use it in a varied diet. I would reccommend it... if you can find it.

I haven't found anything mine don't like yet! In addition to flakes, pellets, shrimp, bloodworms and daphnia I just found out they like cucumber and zucchini since I saw them trying to steal it from my ancistrus.

They also like the sinking wafers I feed my corys. Here's my big female barb seeming to say "Ummm...are you going to eat that?"
