odd behavior

I have a tiger barb that I think got ammonia posioning, and was getting harassed by the others. I put him in a tank by himself and he seems to be doing well. Fin was nipped but is growing back it seems, eating great, swimming fine. however, it seems that when I feed him he goes to the surface to eat the falkes and then when he is done, he cant swim down, like he swallows air and he struggles so hard to dive. after awile he seems fine again. don;t know enough about fish to realize if this really is something or just a unique case.

thanks

it may be affecting his swim bladder if he's swallowing too much air when he eats. could you get some sinking food to feed him with instead and see if he'll take it?

If you pinch the flakes between your fingers and then submerge your fingers before letting go of flakes they will automatically start to sink. You can also tap each flake with your finger and they will start to sink. One of my tanks is mostly bottom feeders so I have to do this daily otherwise my poor corys don't eat

I can those things with the food. But what about the problem, if it is his swim bladder is there anything I could do? Will this just go away in time, cause its been about 2 weeks now. He struggles so hard to dive, it sucks.
