Odessa Barbs. One of the non-aggressive barbs. They have an amazing coloration to them. Although a little more expensive than the average barb, odessas are definately worth the money. I'll post some picks soon.

I love the look of gold barbs, but have a community tank. I googled Odessa barbs and they're very pretty Would Odessa barbs work in a community tank?

Probably. Of course it depends on the fish that you have with it. It looks like they would be okay with the fish listed in your profile.

barbs need to be in schools I get, but is that a limit to the specific barb or can you you have 3 tigers and 3 odessas....

I really don't know for sure, but in my opinion it would be bad to have 3 Odessa's and 3 Tiger's. The Tiger Barbs are pretty agressive and the Odessa Barbs are pretty peiceful. So I think that the Tiger's might bully the Odessa's.

But someone with more knowledge may have a different opinion.

as far as the schools go, they school according to body shape and colour. if a fish looks identical to them, they will school together. having 6+ helps the fish to feel safe, and encourages them to explore (even though its a small fish tank)
