Breeding bala's

How do you tell the difference between male and female bala's?

its very hard to sex them and the only way I know how is that the fems have a rounder belly...they dont usually breed in aquariums ..they love to be in 3 or more as they are much more relaxed with some of their own..and they can get up to 2ft although 12-14" is more likely

Balas are extremely hard to breed in aquariums, you would require a large group to get a happy couple out of anyway and that would require a massive tank

If your aquarium info is up to date you need to either get MUCH bigger tank or rehome your bala shark. it Will suffer from stunted growth which can be fatal as the fish itself wll not grow but its internal organs will keep growing inside.

Still, you should really rehome it, or get a larger tank before even considering breeding them.

Not breeding just curious

I'm not planning on breeding them I was just curious how to tell the difference. I would never breed them because of their adult size. Sorry I guess I titled this wrong, huh? SORRY.
