It took my fish a while to figure out that the food I give them floats on the top but now they are going there. The problem is I have two gold barbs that everytime the bala gets to the top to eat chases it away. I do not see it eat much. Will he get anything or is there anything I should do?

The Bala shark really needs something that will sink so he can eat on the bottom.

Have you tried freeze dried bloodworms, i have 3 bala sharks and 14 tiger barbs mix. and the balas have learned to push through for the food. but you could also try tricking you barbs by feeding on one side for the barbs and then going to the other side for the bala's. also try some frozen beefheart or other frozen foods. let it melt first then put it in.
