Planning stages

I'm in the R&D phase of planning a setup for a 75 gallon Aquarium. I know i want a small school of bala sharks, but am looking for suggestion as to tank mates. I think I'd like a medium sized bottom feeder as a cleaner (preferrably a pictus cat), and a couple small schools of smaller fish for contrast and color, as well as some live plants. Any ideas?

Sounds ok, maybe some rasboras, scissor tails are nice.

I have zebra danios and tiger barbs and i am adding bala sharks. the danios and barbs are getting along really well. You could always try those.

Re: Planning stages

I use to have a pictus catfish before and it was extremely active (pretty annoyingly actually) all the time and stressed out all of my other fish.

Now, in my 77 gal, I just had one of my two balas die today, but the other one is getting along no problem with a couple of large angels, 5 hatchetfish, a small school of glo-lite tetras, and a plectosomus that keeps the tank extremely clean. No scrubbing at all. I plan on getting another bala to pair up with this guy, and also some cardinal tetras. Some ideas for you at least.
