Lake house aquarium questions

When I was coming in the door from going out to dinner I suddenly had a really good idea(IMO). My grandmother has always had a lake house on Kerr Lake in Virginia, and I have always been so enticed by the fish there. There are bluegills, bass, shad, striper and many others :]. When I started keeping aquariums I thought about keeping a few minnows or maybe even a bluegill in a ten gallon or something, but it always seemed unhumane to me to take a fish from the wild and put it in a closed space : \ soooooo my brilliant idea is too setup a temporary ten gallon tank on the weekend when I'm at the lake I would put a sunfish in it and observe it and then let it out the next morning. I would also use water from the lake to fill the tank so the fish would be less stressed. What do you guys think of my idea

Not a bad one. Being in the tank is going to be far less stressful than being caught (especially if it's by hook ) They're interesting fish, but even the smaller ones like bluegills take up so much space that it's difficult to keep them for any length of time. This is sort of a good compromise on the situation.

Unless the fish is going to be tiny 10G is going to be way too small. Especially compared to what their used to and even for a few stay it would be very stressful.
