Arowana

Me and my dad are really exited to buy a silver arowana. But one question can you hold an arowana in a 90 gallon tank? I know when the get big youll have to sell him but would that be fine?

Thanks!

I remember reading a while back that for an adult you'd need 200g.

You might have a hard time giving a fish that large away. I'd choose something else.

Silver Arowanas grow very long and big! Try getting a Pearl Arowana or any other types. They're much smaller than a silver. Lucy and Alessa is right. You really NEED a bigger tank about 200g or more. But you don't have to get the 200g yet. The 90 gallon tank when they're a baby or small is just fine. But you'll have to move it when it grows about more than 1 to 2 ft long. Good luck!

In the end, it's not so much the gallons you've got to worry about, but the swimming space. Silver arowana grow to be over three feet in length, and need to be able to swim and turn around.
For a smaller arowana, I just suggested to Peacemaker (I think it was him) at least six feet by two feet. I would say seven by three would be minimum for a silver. If I ever got one, it wouldn't be until I had a greenhouse with a huge indoor pond.

I really wish they wouldn't keep these fish in stock at pet stores, and would only sell them on special order.
