Hey everyone,
Does anyone have any idea how long an in-substrate fertilizer will leach copper into the water? I accidentally added some tablets into my 10 gallon that had shrimp... after some fatalities, I figured out what the problem was and rescued the survivors to a QT, but I'd like to be able to put them back at some point. I've been doing a lot of water changes and added some carbon to the filter.

And, any recommendations for a good copper-free, in-substrate fertilizer?

The container the fertilizer came in should tell you how long. However long the fertilizer is supposed to last, that's how long it will leach copper (and anything else). For instance, if the tablets is supposed to last for 1 month, then it will be leaching copper in for at least 1 month. It might be a good idea to change out the substrate.
