amonia spike

nitrates are still in check but now i have shown ammonia spike i havent had any changes with stocking i do my pwc weekly and never over feed so now i am doing daily pwc i noticed the spike from a dead fish so i tested im not sure if the fish caused the spike or not i tested all parmeters on my water and all are good except for the amonia so im lost on y it happend

Wow, that was a long sentence. lol
A dead fish could cause a spike if it starts to break down.
Your doing the right thing with water changes until you get your cycle back. Prime will help detox.

Agreed. It's pretty much just like using a shrimp to start your cycle. As Lucy said once it starts to break down the ammonia starts being produced. Hopefully it will not take too long to regain your good readings with your detox and water changes.

yeah i been prime doseing it also but my nitrates are 20 PPM so it was probably the few hours the fish was dead in there that did it? i just did 40 percent again its bad enough i lost a female aurtas id hate to lose more of my cichlid tank. it get paid alot of attention 2 since its in my living room!! and belive it or not my male aurtas is acting up since one of his mate are gone
