African Cichlid Tank Nitrate Readings

My nitrates on both of my African tanks start at 5 after water changes and are up to 20 within 7 days. Everything I feed is gone within less than a minute. I feed 3 times a day in order to keep agression down. Should I bump the amount of food I put in there down a little or is this typical nitrate readings for an African Tank?

It wouldn't kill me to do water changes twice a week, but it would annoy me. As always, I'll do whatever is best for my fish.

Good morning Yay, I like only one wc a week. I can do that.

BTW, I know this is off topic, but the 55 con tank looks naked this morning. We've got 3 "spawning" sites and it looks like a strong wind came through and created valleys of substrate Karma's doing a little redecorating herself.

I will NEVER EVER have a house without jellys or regular cons again. These guys crack me up.

It's gotta be something in the air

Right now, I'm SSSOOO glad George the JD is a bachelor and a youngster.

Even my africans have dug under the ornaments. I'm not quite sure what that's about. I didn't think they did that.
