8 Molly's, 15 Molly fry and 1 Peppered Cory:

I'm trying to understand what's going on in my tank. I set it up in May, had some problems, did some dumb stuff so let's say that my cycle had to restart early June.

My last few results have shown my cycle as follow:

temp: 78 - 80
pH - 7.5
ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrites - .5 - 1ppm
Nitrates 10 - 20ppm

My nitrates have been constantly going up. My question is, how do I still have nitrites in this situation? I want my cycle to stabilize esp since I just had some molly fry, but I'm not even sure what's going on with it. Thankfully ammonia is 0 so I know at least part of my cycle is complete.

Water changes done about every 4 days using Prime. About a 30% water change per change.

IMO you are quite close to being cycled. Do daily water changes with prime to protect your fish from nitrites. Just be patient you are almost there
