Within the last couple days, I have noticed a very thin white film on my water surface. fish seem to be ok, in fact, I noticed the film while I was scooping out some just born pineapple sword babies. I was able to save 9 of them, and the water chemistry is fine. any ideas??

I really don't think it's anything to worry about. You can add an air stone so the water is more agitated at the top or even purchase a surface skimmer (depending on what type of filter you have). I have an Aqua Clear HOB with the attached surface skimmer and I LOVE IT. In my 155g w/d filter...I get a white film on the top in the tide pool. I just stir it gently and it goes away.

Some times the food we feed causes an oily film on the water. a little surface agitation usually makes it mix so the filter can take it away.
