with TSS i have nI readings ... i was wondering how much water to change ... if i change to much will that affect the TSS

how long have you been using it for? on the directions you basically aren't supposed to do a water change until you're cycled (0ppm ammonia and nitrite, 5-20 nitrate) but if you've been stuck like that for more than 2 weeks then you may want to do a small water change, maybe 10-15%

if it was this friday then you're doing wonderfully! i'd give it another four or five days to make sure your levels are fine and then go ahead and do a 50% water change.

if it was last friday then you can go ahead with the 10-15% water change

Tetra Safe Start needs an ammonia source to work...do you have fish in the tank or have you been adding ammonia?

Did you see's Alex's (agabr123) 2nd post (regarding which "friday") If it was just last friday (03/13/2009) I'd say you are right on schedule. I've always read that the water levels get waayyyy out of whack for the first (7) days after adding TSS.
When I added it in my 55g, I waited until day 7 to test.

Also, how many fish did you add...I only added (6) neon tetras when I used TSS and I don't feel that it was enough bio-load to let TSS work properly?
