Large water changes and a good ammonia-neutralizer like Prime are going to be your best options.

Long-term, you will keep running into this issue, though Plecos produce a lot of waste, which means a lot of ammonia, and a 50g isn't likely to support enough bacteria to consume it all.

http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm I think this may help you. According to your profile it states you are unaware of the nitrogen cycle. I'd suggest a 50% water change ASAP. I don't know how long the ammo lock is going to hold. Most chemicals used to treat ammonia only last about 24 hours. Do you test for Nitrites and Nitrates?

great advice from everyone!! just want to add stress zyme is only good if added weekly..it isnt a bacteria that will self sustain itself ....I can see MTS(multiple tank syndrome) in your NEAR future !!
