How to use cycle???

I was just wondering, i got this new medicine called cycle (made by nutrafin) and i was wondering if you put the chemical straight into the water or into the filter because it is bacteria...

Don't bother, cycle contains bacteria that aren't supposed to be used in water, they will kill off any good bacteria that you have and they they will die off soon and you will have to add more, if your looking for a bacteria substitute buy either SafeStart by tetra id Stability, cycle, in essence, is useless.

Don't use it, it contains the wrong kind of bacteria! You'd have to keep adding it with every water change and will get spendy.

Tetra Safe Start is what you want. It works!

it's not a medicine, it supposedly helps with your cycle (which i think that i remember reading in another of your posts that you had already gotten through), so IMO it's completely unnecessary for your tank.

Agreed, all it will do is kill your existing bacteria, so toss it

I wouldnt toss it I would return it for some tetra safestart...that has the bacteria you need to cycle the tank...the product cycle doesnt contain self sustaining bacteria ...so a nice switch will help you and you wont loose out on the money you spent

^ yeah what she said

But if you do get SafeStart, add a cap full with every bucket you replace in your daily water change if you want to use it as a supplement.

really? Because on my Stability (similar product) it says for best results you should add more with every water change, i assumed it was to make sure you have a healthy amount.

that's probably because stability has the wrong kind of bacteria that isn't self sustaining, with TSS, the bacteria is self sustaining and you add it all at once. with other products, that's why it's not really recommended to use them because you have to add them for the entire life of the tank, and if you miss a week then there's a good chance that your cycle will crash

I agree with alex...stability is more like the product cycle than it is tetra safestart....safestart is only added once at the beginning of a new tank set up ..you either add it to a new tank with fish, or another ammonia source and thats it...its not a weekly or monthly additive
