My ten gallon chocote gourami tank smells like a bronchitis type of infection. I got my choco's wednesday , my tank was good soft/acidic water pH 6.5 temp80, i used RO water and blackwater expert. Acclimation went well, i did have to remove them at 1.45 min due to an ammonia spike but they were fine.I added amquel but it wasnt touching it.I did one partia; water change w/ the ro on friday. One large female had beige fading and never colored up. Two were doa's but i get that its usual.Each day i've lost another.Does this sound like a bacterial infection and how would i treat this ?Oh i did order plants from them too, which i rinsed thoro .

im sorry for the losses of your fish babies ammonia in a tank will have a foul smell...did the tank finish cycling after the ammonia spike? what are the parimeters now ?

The ammonia spiked in the acclimation process from which i got them out qick. Yes my tank is cycled, but new. My wter is good only friday it had .25 ammonia, so i did a rigidly controlled water change of 10 % so as not to upset the babies. Today the waters 0 NO2,3,4, ph 6.2 -6.0. I was sterile with this tank. Do you think they had a disease ? There were no signs but the beiged up fish and all the pther females were dark.
