I may have inadvertanly caused a mini cycle

Hi I may have inadvertanly caused a mini cycle in two of my tanks. I'd been dealing quite successively with brown algea. I went a way from Christmas to New Years and the algea came back with a vengance. (yes some one left a light on over night on new years eve) I did a filter cleaning in an attempt to slow do the brown algea. I now have nitite levels in one of the tanks. I have a blue sword who is showing signs of distress. (glasping, laying on the bottom). Would it be a good idea to move him to one of the other tanks and leave him in a breeding box until he regains his strength? I am going to be doing large water changes on both tanks after school tomorrow.

I would not place him in with other fish as he is sick. Do a 50% water change ASAP
do you have a Q tank you can put him in?
