when i check my levels everything is ok excepy my alkalinity (0) and my water hardness (300), the hardness was always a problem and this test kit is now checking the alkalinity when my previous one did not.

I have a 14g tank, 2 small angels, 2 painted glass and some snails, i do a 25% water change every week and after reading a tread here i was washing the filter under taper water, which wont happen again.

Any ideas

Ideally your pH should be between 6.5 and 8.5. To raise your alkalinity you have to increase your Carbonate Hardness (KH). to do this you can add calcium carbonate, marble chips or dolomite stone.
