water parameters turned wrong after water change!!??

Help! I have a 14 gallon tank that has been cycled for 4 months but today after I did a water change my ammonia was .25 and my nitrite was .25!!

Before I did the water change, my ammonia and nitrite were 0, and my nitrite was 20.

I used the same water conditioner I always do, and water from the same source. I don't know what the problem is.

how long did you leave before you did the test?
water changes can sometimes give you whack readings on your test kit.

I waited about 45 minutes after the water change. Should I have waited longer?
