i have introduced 3 sizeable pieces of bogwood into my aquarium and now have a slight red discolouration of the water.

is there any way to reduce the redness without bringing harm to the fish

Did you soak the wood before you put it in? It should just be the tannins in the wood coming out. Water changes will help dilute the coloring and it will stop eventually. It will not harm your fish, in fact some fish welcome it.
