Water conditioner question

I just got a used 1 gal tank that I plan on setting up a betta in for my kids, my question is, how much of the water conditioner do I put in there to begin with? On the bottle it only has instructions for every 5 gal. I've never dealt with a tank this small. Also, what can I do for a heater in it? I have one for 2-5 gal, but will it be too much for the smaller tank to handle and overheat?

You will have to divide the amount by 5 for a 1 gallon. The heater should be ok set at low. Do you have a thermometer? Set it at low and let it sit for awhile in the water to see. I keep my Bettas tank at 80 degrees. I think it will be ok on low, just check it often for the first few days (before you get the fish).
