Question on water test results

So we kinda have an emergency water testing goning on right now and are borrowing a neighbors test kit. Unfortunately it is missing the card with the colors of results for ammonia and nitrates. SO I was hoping someone out there could tell me what colors or numbers or whatever so I could know that would be normal or bad for our freshwater mollies so we can compare it when we test our water. If that all makes sense Thanks so much!

What brand are the tests and what were the color results?

It just says Freshwater Master Kit Set and we havn't done the results yet because we thought t was useless if we cannt get the right information anyway. I am doing a partial water change in a minute anyway. We already know that the nitrites are too high so... Do you know if my fish is in distress of some sort due to the water quality, how long does it take after a water change for this to correct?

Hi mammabrooks. I'd not test the water after a water change. Your results will likely be very faulty. I'd leave it 24hrs or so (or do it before your water change) to make sure the new and old water have mixed thoroughly.

Relief symptoms can be pretty immediate if the only problem was water quality.

What colours did you get for:

nitrate
nitrite
ammonia

Hope this helps (sounds like the API kit).
