Boiling Water and Chlorine

Perhaps it's a silly question and the answer may be obvious, but does boiling water remove chlorine (and other substances such as chloramine) from it?

Re: Boiling Water and Chlorine

Boiling will disapate the chlorine and break the chloro amine down into the two compounds, which is better than the whole but still not good.

Re: Boiling Water and Chlorine

OK, thanks Dino. The reason I ask is not using boiled water for water changes. I asked because I heard chlorine in municipal water supplies supposedly causes cancer in people who drink that water. Isn't that scary? I personally NEVER drink tap water, but I do often use it for cooking. I am wondering if this is unsafe for me to do?

What doesn't cause cancer anymore? Superman's wife got lung cancer and never smoked a cigaraette. I think tap water is fine. That store stuff has a salty taste to it. I buy an undersink charcoal filter for Chlorine ect but still use the tetra water conditioner when I do water changes. the filter is only on the hard water tap. I usually use 25% hard and the rest soft water.
