Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Recommended algae eaters?

I'm planning out my new 170ltr tank and wanted an algae eater, and i'll admit I dont know which fish are and which aren't!
I'm still pretty new to this ><
My main problem is having the Cichlids and Cherry barbs, so I want a fish that won't get upset by them.

Finally, my sillyest question of all, do loaches (Yoyo loaches) eat algae? I'm confused cause a guy at my LFS said they do?
If not does anyone have any suggestions.

im a HUGE bristlenose pleco fan.they are cute as heck and they do wonderous on algae of all kinds...but most new tanks wont have a need for them so you might have to supplement them with other foods...as far as loaches, i do not think you can rely on them for algae but they will eat allot of different things in the tank..but they are not specific algae eaters
