| 29 gallon stocking ideas? hi everyone! i really need some ideas.... i think im going to get a 29 gallon aquarium and need stocking ideas! im going with a SeaClear 29 Gallon Show Tank and a Marineland Penguin 350 BIO-Wheel power filter. I think id like a tank with stacked granite and one or 2 live plants, and maybe some plastic ones. i was leaning towards stocking with many colorful fish, and a shoal of 5 albino cory cats at the bottom. any ideas are accepted! also.... if anyone can think of fish that have lots of personality.... that would be cool too!! thanks! |

| Welcome to fishlore!
I got guppies a week ago and they're a handful. Because I didn't want any fry I got 6 males, thinking they are peaceful fish. HA. Today I was disciplining 2 of them for bad behaviour - 20 min each in the bag of shame (just like you do when you aclimate them). What's funny about the emoticon is that one of the bad guppy is named Darth Vader, lol
So if you want fish with attitude, go for male guppies I guaratee you will not be bored
On a serious note: if you get guppies get some females to, ratio 2 females/ 1 male |

| To be honest, I adore my Mollies, they all have such individual personalities I would recommend them to anyone!
I think they like being in a group of around 3 from what iv'e heard and they are very hardy, but do tend to produce significant waste >< So might have to slightly higher % water change.
But really, I think Mollies are fantastic and so friendly! |

| How about von rio tetras, cherry barbs, a dwarf gourami, a GBR pair and the albino corys? That would give you lots of reds, blues and yellows. You will have excellent filtration, but will still need to do weekly water changes. |

That's my favorite part of fishkeeping - coming up with interesting combinations of fish that will live happily together, while being color coordinated at the same time Black sand and a black background will make my suggested fish POP! |

| Guppies sounds nice but be sure to get all males. A mix of tetras and molliew would do good too If you don't want any fry, just be sure to get all males. Good luck!
P.S This thread should've been posted in the aquarium stocking section. One of our moderators should be over shortly to help you move it. |

| i have 6 cherry barbs (1 male, 5 female), 1 honey gourami (male), 1 gbr (male), 1 swordtail (male), and three cories in my 29 and they all get along great. It is very colorful also. I would definately recommend this stocking combo! Jaysee almost described my tank to a tee!
I also have a tankfull of live plants and have never had a problem with any of the fish messing with them (except when i put some some anacharis in, they destroyed that in a matter of a few hours!) |

| Hello Rae and Welcome to Fish Lore. You've been given some good suggestions above.
I hope you enjoy the site.
Click, I wouldn't suggest bagging your fish for punishment. You may stress them even more and develop ICH or other problems. Just give them one of these (a good talking to )
Ken I have moved your thread to the "aquarium stocking suggestions" section of the forum for more responses.

Ken | Oops, I didn't know that. The reason I did it is because one of them got his left fin nipped and I was ready to take the culprit back to the store but changed my mind.
Back on OPs topic, how about pearl gouramis as center peice? I love the elegant look on them. |

| I tend to like smaller peaceful fish (but crave a discus tank... someday). Some fish I like:
jelly bean tetras
neon or cardinal tetras
green fire tetras
von rio flame tetras
ember tetras
red phantom tetras
bloodfin tetras
highfin white skirt tetras
(micro)rasbora kubotai (dwarf neon rasboras)
microrasbora erythromicron
boraras brigittae (chili rasbora)
sundadanio axelrodi blue
glowlight danios (not glofish, but rather danio choprae)
celestial pearl danios
panther danios
danio roseus (purple passion)
pearl danios
lonfin blue danio (danio kerri)
sparkling gouramis
honey gouramis
emerald green corys
green laser corys
pygmy corys
longfinned corydoras aeneus
corydoras schwartzi
corydoras bondi
celebes rainbows
spotless orange australe killifish
clown killifish
polka dot loach (botia kubotai)
bumblebee goby
peacock gudgeon
scarlet badis (dario dario)
My dream fish would be if someone genetically engineered neon tetras to have the neon blue all over the whole body. |

| I think that sounds wonderful! You can mix and match different colored platys if you'd like for some variety. |

| That does sound pretty good
But be careful of balloon mollys, because of their deformed spines they can have shorter life spans and can be more susceptible to disease. |
