Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Thinking of the following but not sure!

Hey hey

About to buy a 200 litre tank (100x40x55) and I currently have 3 Mollies, 2 Platys and an Angelfish (tiny atm, but is the reason for the bigger tank).

I wanted to get the following:
Another Platy cause i heard they liked to be in 3's or more
1 x German Blue Ram
1 x kribensis
6 x Zebra Danios
4 x Yoyo Loach
3 x Guppy

Used Aqadvisor to make sure I wasn't going to be overstocked, but would love some opinions on whether they would get on, suitability of the tank etc.

Wanting to get a female Krib and GBR to avoid the aggression levels if possible.

Any comments or advice would be appriciated, want to get this as right as I can!

Your stocking list looks very nice but I'm not very sure on the GBR. Wait for more input and suggestions on that from other members. Good luck!

If it were my tank, I would switch out the zebra danios for dwarf neon rainbows. In a 50 something (200L), a school of 8-10 would look very nice. Basically, they are an upscale danio that is less maniacal.

Other than that, some cherry or gold barbs would add a nice base color to bring out the reds/yellows of the other fish.

My 45 gallon (36x12x23") has 2 pearl gouramis, 8 dwarf neon rainbows, 7 gold barbs, 2 GBRs, 7 albino corys and a bn pleco.

I'll probably not have the GBR then, and got for the Krib instead.
Cherry/Golden Barbs sound pretty cool, would they be ok with my other smaller fish and angel?
I quite like the activity iv'e seen from Danios, but is there another reason i shouldn't get them?
Thanks for the advice guys

my cherry barbs are very laid back fish and don't disturb any of their tank mates. danios are very active and are aggressive eaters, mine seem to play games when they are eating by chasing each other at lightning-fast speed! because of they are so hyper, they may disturb some types of fish. i know that my gbr would not do well with danios. but other than that, danios are fun to watch because it seems like they are constantly moving. mine don't ever hide!

They sound pretty cool then (the Cherry barbs) but I read they are too small to go with Angelfish?

I keep my cherry barbs with a golden wonder killi that eats full grown guppies. I think they'll be fine with an angel.

And they are pretty cool

The Kribs and GBR's would be better as pairs....even if you care if they breed or not. Most cichlids aren't loners and would have much better colors if in pairs. The Kribs are a bit tougher than the GBR's.

I'm worried about getting pairs as I really don't have the space for any fry and i don't want them to breed and then they die, I'd feel way too guilty. Would getting, say, 2 female Kribs help with this?
