help with stocking

Hi, I currently have a 10 and 30 gallon aquarium, and getting another already cycled 30 gallon tomorrow. I was thinking about getting discus because I thought they are darling. Maybe 2 diff. colored discus and 2 lemon angelfish? Well, i've been reading that discus are high maintence and you need much more equipment for them. But I've also read that it's not necessary? Please enlighten me! Also, if you have any other cool ideas I could you-I would be much grateful!

Thanks alot!

Iv'e heard the same as you, about Discus being more high maintenance, but iv'e also heard they are more than worth it! Might not be amazing advice but hey, I hope you get some answers, let us know what you decide!

Discus require a bigger tank than a 55 gal to live happy. They say to keep one Discus per 10 gallon. So you could probably do with 3 discus in your 30 gal with daily water changes and stable water parameters. They ARE high maintainence and can be very delicate. I wouldn't suggest adding Angelfish with them though as Discus are peaceful fish and Angels can be very territorial if kept with more than one of their own.

Yeah, I don't think discus are a good idea either.

How about a school of 12 tiger barbs and a crayfish?

ive decided no on the discus but i dont want any schools. I am looking for some more exotic, saltwater looking fish (i would only have a limited fund saltwater tank and i wouldnt want to risk that!) I would LOVE an oscar but I'm sure that wouldnt fit (albino tiger) I like angels, and would only get 1 if that would allow me to have another kind of fish. I heard severum get along good with an angel and i l.ike their personality. Any other suggestions?

An Angelfish with a severum sounds nice. Don't know much about severums so wait for a more experienced member in severums to help you I don't know of any saltwater looking fish, only Angels. haha Hope you can find some good ones. Just keep exploring
