for my anniversary my boyfriend is getting me a 40 gallon tank! in our house we only have room for 2 tanks (and i already have a 5g betta tank) so im moving my fish from my 29g to the 40g but im wondering if an angel fish will work out with my existing fish?

i have : 1 female pearl gourami
4 dwarf rainbow fish now but im going to add 4 more in the 40g
6 corys
5 adult cherry shrimp and quite a few babies
2 assassin snails

or will i be overstocked if i add the angel fish? and if i do should i get a really young one so it grow up with the other tankmates?

The rainbows, corys, rcs, snails are good but the gourami might have some issues.

she is the most docile thing in my tank. ive had her since she was a baby... she thinks she is a rainbow tho lol she is always with them

i can always get an angel and if it doesnt work take it back :S

and i was looking at getting 3 kuhli loaches would they be ok or will it be too overstocked?

Nah you're still ok. Kuhli's are cool just make sure the substrate aren't sharp. They love to burrow and cuddle with each other.

It'll be fine to get an angel but try getting a juvenile/baby angel. If any aggression issues appear, be sure to have an extra tank ready to be safe.

I would still be hesitant of this plan. Some have success with these two together, others experience a war zone. Unfortunately, it may not work out at the moment when you are just out of the room and someone may be seriously injured. Hopefully with plenty of plant hiding places and hidy-holes it would be fine. Be careful....
