How does this stock option sound?

1 dwarf gourami
10 glowlight tetras
5 panda cories
1 olive nerite snail

20 gallon long tank, 24"L x 13"W x 17"H.
WDYT?

I think it's a bit overstocked. How often do you do water changes?

It's not stocked yet, I'm just looking at options. I'll be changing water once weekly.

What if you do 3 cories and 8 tetras? and the DG and snail.

My first idea was 4 cories, 8 tetras, a DG, and a snail. Do you think the 4th cory will be pushing it?

do you have a good filter? oversized?

I'd say it's a good filter, but I could probably use an upgrade. It's one that came in a set with the tank so I'm guessing it's only a 20 gallon filter.

I think if you add the fish slowly, over several weeks, so that the bacteria builds up well, and you are going to be diligent on the water changes, you could make it work. But I'm a beginner too.

I'm definitely taking my time stocking. I added 5 tetras yesterday and that's all that's in there now; it's going to take me at least a month before I have everything in there. Next weekend I'm adding the last 3 tetra, the week after that 2 cories, same thing the weekend after that, then the snail and DG last. Money permitting. It may take longer depending on my funds.

sounds like a fun tank to me also..i think you will be fine in the 20g long...most of those fish are horizontal swimmers..in a reg 20g , id say you would be pushing it..not in the long tho..make sure you get pics

Thanks Shawnie! I'll post some pictures when it's getting closer to done, the tank is so big my tetras spread out and it's hard to get a decent picture! One of them is a goof, she thought her reflection was another tetra so she was trying to school with it, lol.
