Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

20 gallon stocking idea - need input

I've been wanting to upgrade but couldn't afford it, but I just found this great deal: http://ames.craigslist.org/hsh/1454914769.html! I pick it up later today.

My plan:

2 male gups
3 female balloon mollies
6 albino corydoras
1 colisa chuna
1 otocinclus

Will the cories be okay in that space? Is the bottom too crowded do you think?

Any suggestions?

*It'll be sand substrate with fake plants that I already have on hand. I'll seed it with a nylon full of cycled gravel and extra filter media.

Edit: I do about 40% water changes once per week in my tanks.

Thanks Atkinson. I've never had corydoras, but I've read a lot about their behavior and I've really been wanting a nice group. Just wasn't sure if they would have enough room in a 20g for them to play and be cute.

I'm off to go pick it up right now (the tank, not the cories lol)!

Great deal! $10 for a 20g? Wow! Well done on the find Your stocking list is great. But I'd suggest getting male balloon mollies instead of female, as male gups can be really 'you know'. Hope to see some photos when you've set up everything. Best of luck!
